It stands to be the first ship recycling plant in the country to achieve internationally recognized certification, which is an impressive feat in itself. Additionally, PHP Ship Breaking and Recycling Industries Limited has been awarded the ISO 30000:2009 Ship Recycling Management System certificate by RINA, another pioneering achievement for Bangladesh. Moreover, the facility has attained management system certifications from Bureau Veritas, which include ISO 9001: Quality Management System, ISO 14001: Environment Management System, and ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety Management System. These certifications play a vital role in supporting and organizing ship recycling operations while ensuring adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations. The journey to achieve these milestones was no small feat. It entailed four years of arduous effort and a substantial $4 million investment (Phase I), which covered the construction of concrete flooring and docking platforms, the procurement of state-of-the-art equipment, and comprehensive training of the workforce to meet the highest industry standards. The goal was to demonstrate Bangladesh's capability to establish an advanced green facility on par with those in India and Turkey, a feat that PHP Ship Breaking and Recycling Industries Limited successfully accomplished.
